Pete Van Der Fluit is a multi award-winning composer with an extensive background in all forms of music composition.
A devotee to experimentation in music and sound using both old and new school disciplines, Pete’s tenacious dedication to his craft inspires him to creatively pivot across all genres, breathing life into messaging and storytelling when words fall short.
His passion for the discovery of new compositional techniques drives curiosity in his work, to immersively tell stories using frontier applications of music and sound.
In high school he was a founding member of the iconic post-punk, new-wave band The Screaming Meemees, going on to complete a Masters in Music with First Class Honours in composition from the University of Auckland.
After decamping to London where he started various new music projects, Pete eventually returned to New Zealand, establishing the institutional Liquid Studios in 1998, a music and audio post-production powerhouse in Auckland’s Grey Lynn.
From campaign work for local and international clients including Air New Zealand, Steinlager, Vodafone, Macy’s, Lexus, Audi, Pedigree and numerous others, to longform scores for film and television, Pete’s previous works include soundtracks for Romeo and Juliet – The Rock Opera, multi-award winning short film I Will Not Write Unless I Am Swaddled in Furs and Netflix series The New Legends of Monkey, seasons one and two.
